Think Outside! No Box Required
[Music playing]
Narrator: Think Outside! No Box Required. Research shows that children who play outside regularly are happier, healthier, and stronger. Here are some ways to get outside with children safely.
One, make going outside part of the daily schedule. Two, prepare for all kinds of weather. Remember to drink extra water in warm weather, and put on a jacket in cooler weather. Splashing in puddles or exploring the different textures of leaves and plants can be fun! Also, do a daily outdoor safety check with checklists, like the Head Start Body Start Play Space Assessment. And three, create clearly-defined and engaging outdoor play spaces so children know where they can explore safely. For example, lay out blankets for babies to safely sit and roll on.
