Brush Up on Oral Health

Infant Oral Health

Infant smiling and winking. This section offers information and strategies for improving and maintaining the oral health of infants. Head Start staff can use these tip sheets both in the classroom and to share with families.

Taking care of infants’ oral health is important. Oral care should start between ages 6 to 10 months before the infant’s first tooth comes into the mouth. As soon as the first tooth comes in, it can develop tooth decay.

Choose a tip sheet from the outline to get started.
