Writing Goals
Becky Zaleski: So when I was here, I noticed in your small groups, you were using an intentional teaching card with kiddos and really taking notes on the card. Is there other ways you could be collecting documentation, or are there other ways that you do that?
Renee Attridge: Well, I was talking to my associate teacher, and we were talking about how we would like to use our iPads more, because we're missing a lot of valuable documentation and - or just moments that we could capture and that we don't get just by writing. So we would like to use those more to collect documentation.
Becky: So it sounds like that might be a good goal to put in place, to put some intentionality behind using it more often.
Renee: Yes, I'd like to do that, yeah.
Becky: Okay, so I think we can run through the form. You just described to me what you want to accomplish, which would be to use your iPad, have it accessible.
Renee: Logged in and ready to go, so that when the moment comes, we'll be able to get that documentation.
Becky: Okay. So how will you know you've met this goal? When you feel like you have a good amount of documentation, or...?
Renee: Yeah, when I have enough. I just feel that - I don't know if I'll ever really "super meet it," but meet it when I'm using it more and realizing and have it be a natural thing to pick it up and use it, have it more accessible where I'm at.
Becky: So would it help to set a number? Maybe the first week you collect five pictures, one each day?
Renee: Yeah, that would be good, yeah.
Becky: And then we kind of increase it over time? Okay, so what would feel reasonable between the two of you?
Renee: Maybe two or three a day, maybe just to do it in our session.
Becky: Okay, so three pictures or videos per day for each of you.
Renee: Okay, sounds good.
Becky: Okay? Great. So what do you need to make this happen? What in your day do you need to prepare to think about it?
Renee: Just to make sure that we have it logged in and ready and with us at all times. Because we both have one, and so we can just make sure we have it at circle time, or she could take the videos or pictures while I'm teaching. And then during our small groups, and then during free choice time, we could each, as we're engaging with the kids, we could have a video out.
Becky: Okay, so one is to have them logged in and ready before class. Then it would be to have it with you at those key times of day. And then would there be a time where Courtney would record you during circle time, or you recording her? You might notice throughout the day those kinds of times.
Renee: Yeah, we'll look for those times.
Becky: Okay, great. Any resources you need? Obviously, your iPads need to be up-to-date, working.
Renee: Yeah, and we just did that, actually.
Becky: Okay, so those are ready to go.
Renee: Yeah, they're all ready to go. Yeah, we just got them back just the other - actually just this week.
Becky: Oh, perfect. Okay, so they're updated. And then when should we check back in about this? Is a month - or we're almost done with school, so maybe...?
Renee: About maybe two weeks? I'd say we could do it in two weeks, because we'll be ending pretty much around that time.
Becky: Okay, great, so two weeks we'll check in and see how many pieces are collected. All right. Do you need any support from me in that time, or maybe you don't know yet?
Renee: I think we'll be fine, and I'll let you know if we need support or more ideas on how to gather the documentation with the iPads.
Becky: Okay, sounds great. All right, so I will follow up with you in two weeks, and we'll see how much we've got.
Renee: Okay, well, thank you.
Becky: Awesome.
