Join us for the Infant/Toddler Institute: Nurturing Bright Beginnings, hosted by the Office of Head Start’s National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching, and Learning. Nurturing Bright Beginnings will spotlight resources and effective strategies to foster quality adult–child interactions in Head Start programs serving infants and toddlers. In the opening keynote, Dr. Patricia Kuhl will explore how young children's earliest experiences shape their developing brains and set them up for a lifetime of learning and development. This event is for early learning leaders who are dedicated to supporting infant and toddler development across various program options.

Select sessions will be available in Spanish, while the others offer simultaneous interpretation.

The National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety (NCHBHS) has partnered with Illuminate Colorado to bring the Conversation Guide for Professionals on Substance Use, Children, and Families to Head Start staff. The Conversation Guide is a tool that provides ideas and resources to help professionals use strengths-based conversations when working with families. This four-hour training focuses on how to talk with families about substance use, safe and engaged caregiving, and protective factors that promote child and family well-being. It also provides free materials to supplement the training and share with other program staff. Check the registration page for all session dates and times.

Outdoor playtime is important for all children. Child care health consultants (CCHCs) can play a key role in making sure outdoor play areas are safe so young children can discover the world around them! For example, CCHCs can help improve policies and train staff on how to use safety practices. Join us to learn essential tips — such as having plenty of shade and water — that will make sure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time outdoors.
