The first aid lead supports educators to give first aid to children, staff, and volunteers. In Head Start programs, the first aid lead may be the health manager.
Preparedness Actions
- Keeps a list of all staff trained in first aid and CPR and arranges training when needed to ensure that everyone is up to date
- Works with the supplies lead to make sure the program has first aid and other medical supplies it needs
Response Actions
- Sets up a first aid station and gives first aid as needed
- With the learning and care lead, documents injuries and any actions taken
Recovery Actions
- Works with the supplies lead to replace first aid supplies when needed
- Assesses the need for more first aid or other medical supplies
- Provides care for injuries after the emergency has ended
- Assesses the first aid response and makes recommendations for improvements as needed
