The transportation lead coordinates the relocation of staff and children to other sites as needed.
Preparedness Actions
- Makes sure there are enough vehicles for evacuation, including safe transportation for children with disabilities and special health care needs
- Finds alternative transportation such as public transportation or walking
- Gives staff the address and directions to relocation sites, one near to the facility and one farther away
- Makes sure all sites have copies of the letter of agreement with relocation sites, addresses, and directions in their go bag
Response Actions
- Assesses the need for transportation with the incident leader
- Checks conditions that affect transportation, such as bridge and road closures and unsafe road conditions and finds alternative routes if needed
- With the attendance and reunification lead and the learning and care lead, makes sure children who are transported are safe and accounted for
Recovery Action
- Assesses how well the program’s transportation procedures worked for emergency transport and recommends improvements as needed
