Your program will need to prepare for all types of emergencies. Use this checklist to assess what types of hazards are most likely to happen in your area. Ask your emergency management agency for guidance. First, document your response to all likely hazards in your disaster preparedness plan. Second, plan for the more unpredictable emergencies that your emergency preparedness task force recommends you include in your plan.
Emergencies may include:
- Blackout, power outage, utility disruption, or communications failure
- Bomb threat
- Disease outbreak, epidemic, or pandemic
- Earthquake
- Extreme cold
- Extreme heat
- Fire
- Flood
- Hurricane
- Intruder or active shooter
- Landslide or mudslide
- Tornado
- Tsunami
- Unhealthy air quality
- Volcano
- Wild animals
- Wildfire
- Winter storm
